Entries Sought For 2012 Dulux Colour Awards for Australia and New Zealand

Architects and designers who demonstrate an “exceptional and inspired use of colour” in their projects are being encouraged to enter the 2010 Dulux Colour Awards, the premier colour awards in architecture and design for Australia and New Zealand.

Entries for the 2012 awards, now in their 26th year, close on February 10, 2012 and Dulux New Zealand is urging local architects, designers, specifiers and students of architecture and interior design to enter projects which they believe demonstrate an “inspiring use of colour”.

The awards will be announced at a gala ceremony in Melbourne on March 28, 2012.

New Zealand design and architecture professionals and students have been eligible to enter the awards for the past three years, and next year for the first time there will be a New Zealand judge on the judging panel. Award winning Auckland architect, Jeff Fearon, of Fearon Hay will join Peter Maddison, architect and host of Grand Designs Australia, Kim Chadwick, from Colourways and Lucy Feagins, prominent Australian interior designer/stylist.

Gretchen Flynn, Dulux New Zealand colour expert, is on the first round judging panel and believes the time is ripe for a New Zealand winner.

“The calibre of New Zealand entrants to date has been very high and I am confident this trend will continue this year. The Dulux Colour Awards provide a great opportunity for designers and architects to benchmark their work against a larger talent pool of design professionals.”

The Grand Prix is AUD$2000 plus business class air fare to an international design fair.

To acknowledge and celebrate all local entrants, Dulux New Zealand will be hosting invitation only dinners on February 24, 2012 to announce the short listed finalists.

Dulux New Zealand has also announced that it will contribute NZ$500 towards flights and accommodation to New Zealand finalists who wish to attend the Gala awards ceremony in Melbourne on March 28, 2012. Those finalists travelling to Melbourne will also be invited to tour the DuluxGroup head office, colour services and R & D facility.
