Orcon adds Wedderburn to portfolio

Orcon today announced it has signed weighing and labelling specialist Wedderburn to its ever-expanding portfolio following a competitive nine-way pitch.

Under the contract, Orcon is supplying Wedderburn with an Office Connect Service to help provide seamless and reliable data communications between all Wedderburn offices throughout New Zealand.

“This is a significant win for Orcon and we are pleased to be working with a company such as Wedderburn to ensure its technology meets its business needs,” says Taryn Hamilton, GM retail at Orcon.

Wedderburn is a nationwide specialist in weighing, labelling, food processing and POS systems, most commonly seen in use at supermarkets. The family-owned business has 11 offices nationwide and 18 in Australia with a combined staff of more than 300 across both countries.

Orcon’s Office Connect Service enables Wedderburn to have all its office sites connected country-wide through a single high-speed private network. This in turn gives Wedderburn staff access to a wide range of applications - including network-sensitive services such as voice and video conferencing - without having to set up and maintain complex VPN sessions.

The service also gives Wedderburn the flexibility to upgrade or downgrade as its needs change and provides remote access through a secure network giving an extra level of resilience in case of an outage.

“We are extremely pleased to have Orcon as a technology partner delivering the new WAN to all Wedderburn New Zealand offices,” says André Joubert, IT manager at Wedderburn. “What attracted us to Orcon was the way they presented their products and services. They value what we value as a company. For Wedderburn, customer service and a quality product are paramount and that was what we were looking for in a service provider.”
