Power Being Restored Around the North Island

Power Being Restored Around the North Island

13 December 2011

Reserve generation has been brought online to replace Huntly. Some customers have had supply restored. Transpower is working with distribution companies around the North Island to enable them to restore power to remaining customers.

Power has been supplied to most Auckland customers except for water heating.

The power system connection to the Huntly power station was lost at 12.30pm. As a result, up to 500 MW of power supply was shed in the North Island to protect the transmission system.

The cause is unknown at this stage.

Transpower will provide further updates.
