New immigration system a boost for tourism
Government investment in upgrading Immigration New Zealand’s IT system will help bring more visitors to New Zealand, the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA) says.
Welcoming today’s announcement about the new system, TIA Chief Executive Tim Cossar said improved immigration processing would boost visitor numbers, especially from valuable new markets like China.
Creating seamless border experiences and removing barriers for people travelling to New Zealand is a key priority of TIA’s Tourism Future Statement 2011-14 www.tianz.org.nz/nztourismfuture which highlights the industry’s priorities for the incoming Government.
“In the past three years, immigration policy changes have led to enormous improvements in the processing of visa applications for visitors from China. We look forward to the new IT system bringing even more improvements,” Mr Cossar says.
“Making travel easier is critical to growing international visitor arrivals.”
