Fronde commits to improving TXT-a-Park service

Wellington IT Company, Fronde is pleased to announce that the TXT-a-Park issues have been completely resolved, with transaction levels back to normal.

Fronde has been suffering technical issues with the delivery of the TXT-a-Park service, a system designed to allow payment for on-street parking by sending text messages via mobile phone. The service processes 18,000 transactions per day, and had been experiencing issues nationwide since from Saturday 3rd December to Thursday 8th December when the Message Gateway underwent a substantial upgrade.

Graeme Shellard, Manager Technology Solutions who has been involved with the operation of Txt-a-Park for 6 years now, and seen it grow from a few machines for Vodafone customers in Wellington, through to where it is now - 3000 machines, with Vodafone and Telecom on-board, and TwoDegrees about to join, is committed to improving the service.

The TXT-a-Park service was launched in 2004 as a joint initiative between Fronde, Vodafone, and Cash Handling Systems, with all parties retaining ownership of their intellectual property. The service was expanded in 2006 to include Telecom New Zealand and its customers. TXT-a-Park has been running for seven years and to date this is the first major technical fault it has experienced.
