Shifty Operators Make Promises They Can't Keep
Shifty Operators Make Promises They Can't Keep
Have you taken a phone call recently from an organisation promising to guarantee amazing online search engine results for your website? I certainly have - and they seem to be on the increase.
I've heard sales pitches that include phrases like "When we run a test with our system, search results show your website performs poorly in Google searches". This is fine if you've done no work on your site (because the results probably are poor) - however I've found their sales pitch doesn't change from one business to another - and some of those businesses website search results are superb. They seem to be looking for people without a sound understanding of how SEO actually works - in other words, vulnerable business professionals and who have money to spend.
Be wary of people who speak to you promising amazing SEO for your website - promises that are impossible for them to keep. Impossible, because no one has control over Google or any public online environment - you can only influence results through hard work and long term commitment. In particular, be wary about those who criticise your efforts without any knowledge of your current activity or goals. And if you do sign up, ensure their KPI's are crystal clear. and if they don't do what they say they will do, stop paying them.
Want genuine (third party) feedback on how your website is performing? Perhaps you'd appreciate an easy-to-use tool designed to assess the online health of your business. The Website Health-Check takes as little as 10 minutes to complete and at the end of the process, you'll receive a downloadable list of recommended actions for you to keep. You will also get plenty of information and templates to help you implement the recommended changes.
