Wage settlement possible in Pact dispute

Wage settlement possible in Pact dispute

The industrial dispute between the community support provider Pact and the two unions representing staff, the Service and Food Workers Union Ngā Ringa Tota and NZ Public Service Association may be close to a resolution following court ordered mediation.

Pact, the SFWU and the PSA said today that a draft settlement had been reached that would be put to Pact staff as soon as possible.

Pact Chief Executive Louise Carr said the settlement was one intended to enable the organisation to resume Pact’s focus on client support and to go as far as it could to meet the workforce’s need for a pay rise against a background of financial prudence.

SFWU spokesperson Alastair Duncan said the new offer was welcome and a settlement would enable the workforce to focus on client care and support while continuing to call for better funding across the sector.
