Directors for Palmerston North Airport Confirmed

Palmerston North City Council is pleased to confirm the appointment of five directors for Palmerston North Airport Ltd.

Reappointed are present Board Chairperson, Derek Walker along with Ormond Stock and Gerard Gillespie. Two new faces, Jon Nichols and Janneke van Wagtendonk have also been appointed.

The directors have been appointed for a variety of terms from one to three years.

At the suggestion of the Airport Board, the Company’s Constitution was changed earlier this year to streamline the process for the appointment of directors. All present directors then agreed to resign to enable an orderly system of appointments to take effect. The Council then took the opportunity to advertise the positions.

Palmerston North City Mayor, Jono Naylor said that the Council was pleased with the quality of the applicants.

“I believe the new Board will provide a good mix of experience and new blood to enable the Company to survive and grow in the current economic climate,” he said.

The Council acknowledges with thanks the contributions of long serving directors Rodney Wong and Gordon Cruden who will leave the Board.
