Angel investors honour founding chairman
Andy Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of the ICEHOUSE has become the third Honorary Life Member of the Angel
Association of New Zealand. Hamilton received the accolade at the fourth Angel Summit this week in Tauranga. Andy
Hamilton joins current Life Members, Sir Stephen Tindall and Bill Payne.
Angel Association Chair Phil McCaw said “the award of Honorary Life Membership was an acknowledgement Andy Hamilton’s
extraordinary contribution to the angel investing industry.
“Hamilton has been a dynamic leader in the angel investing industry in New Zealand since the inception of angel
investing networks in New Zealand around 2006. Andy has lead from the front with evolution of the ICE Angel group in
Auckland and growth of other networks around the country.
Angel Association Executive Director Colin McKinnon said “the formation of the Angel Association of New Zealand was
driven hard by Hamilton as founding chairman of the association. The fourth annual Angel Summit in Tauranga demonstrated
that the New Zealand angel investors have deal flow and investor capability that is world class. The New Zealand angel
investing industry is comparable with the best in other countries. Our rapid development as an industry has been
significantly attributable to the Seed Co-investment Fund programme and the energy of people like Andy Hamilton.
Angels invested $17.8 million across 53 deals involving young New Zealand companies in the first half of 2011. In the 12
months to June 2011, $41.5 million was invested into young companies. Cumulatively, over $206 million has been invested
into young companies by angels since the in 2006.
