Majority of NZ employers take 2-4 weeks to source talent

31st October 2011

Majority of New Zealand employers take two - four weeks to source suitable talent, according to Robert Walters’ inaugural Employer Insights Survey

Nearly a third of New Zealand hiring managers surveyed (28.8%) were able to find suitable talent within two to four weeks of commencing the recruitment process, with only 18% taking over six weeks, according to the inaugural edition of the Employer Insights Survey conducted by leading international recruitment consultancy Robert Walters this year.

Published in its entirety today, the inaugural Employer Insights Survey canvassed New Zealand hiring managers across the disciplines of Accounting, Finance & Banking, General Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, Procurement & Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing; and Secretarial & Business Support. The Survey explores how businesses are dealing with some of the current issues facing the New Zealand employment market, including how new employees are secured and the employee support and engagement strategies offered by companies.

Commenting on the Survey, Richard Manthel, Managing Director of Robert Walters New Zealand noted

“It is very encouraging to see that out of all the employers canvassed for this survey, the vast majority (82.2%) have actually hired new staff recently, which is certainly in line with the raised levels of activity across the market that our recruiters are experiencing in the last quarter of 2011. However, while most employers have been able to secure talent reasonably quickly, there are certainly pockets of demand that the local candidate market is unable to service and many of our clients are turning to our overseas-based talent communities, with 36.7% of Survey respondents excited about the skills candidates with international experience have to offer.
