Record Readership Ranking Positions Woman’s Day

PRESS RELEASE

Embargoed- Noon 28 October 2011

RECORD READERSHIP RANKING POSITIONS WOMAN’S DAY

AS NZ’S NUMBER ONE WEEKLY MAGAZINE

New Zealand’s Top Selling Weekly for Women Now Number One in Readership Too

The latest readership results from Nielsen confirm Woman’s Day’s position as New Zealand’s leading women’s title with 784,000 readers. This historic shift sees Woman’s Day exceed NZ Woman’s Weekly’s readership for the first time in its 22-year history.

Sido Kitchin, who joined Woman's Day as Editor in April after five years at the helm of NZ Woman's Weekly, says: "It doesn't get much more exciting than this for my dedicated team here at Woman's Day. My readers are always my number-one priority and the team here works tirelessly with great passion to ensure our magazine is the biggest and best women's magazine brand in the country. So taking over the position as the most-read women's and newsstand magazine in NZ for the first time is a triumph. We've had the top spot in terms of circulation for years, but taking the number- one readership spot is validation that Woman's Day is the most popular women's magazine in every way. It's the variety of celebrity, real-life and lifestyle content - and the loyalty to popular columnists like Polly Gillespie and Sarah-Kate Lynch - that keep readers choosing Woman's Day as their favourite magazine week in and week out. In a competitive market, Woman's Day is in a great position to ensure it maintains its place in the hearts and minds of readers and offers the best value for advertisers for many years to come."

Aside from claiming the number-one readership spot of any newsstand magazine in New Zealand, the latest numbers also show that Woman’s Day reaches 22,000 more females than its nearest competitor and primary readership is on the increase.

“I’m delighted with this result. We’ve always known that Woman’s Day is number one and it’s terrific that the readership figures now reflect that,” said Paul Dykzeul, CEO of ACP Magazines NZ. “This is great news for us and our advertisers, confirming that their money is in the right place.”
