More FM Gets Rugby Fever and Changes Station Name
Popular national radio brand More FM will be known as BACKINGBLACK FM from 4pm today (21 October).
On the eve of the country’s biggest game ever, More FM, are doing the unthinkable and changing the station’s name to show how much passion they have for the team. More FM have teamed up with Telecom’s All Blacks Fan Club; BackingBlack in order to rename themselves.
More FM ‘s successful network of local station’s across New Zealand will all be called BackingBlack FM in support of the All Blacks.
Of the name change “It’s much like a person changing their name by deed poll,” says More FM Network Programme Director Ande Macpherson. “However, we had to mark the momentous occasion in a suitably large way and show the boys that we are behind them 100%.”
So from 4pm, Friday 21 October anyone listening to the station normally known as More FM will hear BackingBlack FM. The station’s freephone line 0800 667336 will open for fans to call and have their support for the team recorded and broadcast on BackingBlack FM.
Fans can also see BackingBlack FM in action as it broadcasts live from the BackingBlack HQ in the Auckland Viaduct on Sunday afternoon in the lead up to the big game.
