Skills and technology pair up in Network
Pairing up a cutting-edge dairy innovator with one of the country’s fastest growing industry groups provides an ideal blend of talent and technology for New Zealand’s largest industry.
"We are excited about our new partnership with MilkHub. The company is exciting and innovative, which aligns well with our Network’s values. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership," says Dairy Women’s Network CEO Sarah Speight, on announcing MilkHub’s partnership with the Network.
She says this latest partnership agreement marks a growing recognition within the industry about the value the Network has in transferring ideas, technology and training into the greater dairy industry.
MilkHub managing director Ross Nilson said the company was very much aware that the information on dairy farms is collated and recorded by very savvy women, including wives, partners and staff who are an integral part of the daily farm management operation.
"We decided the Dairy Women’s Network would be a good fit for us as their values of innovation, inclusiveness, credibility, commitment and integrity align very well with our own,” says Ross Nilson.
MilkHub focuses on delivering dairy automation systems alongside “cloud” based herd management software that provides real time updates on herd and farm data to dairy farmers.
With daily analysis of milk flows and herd activity, the technology provides farmers with instantaneous updates, effectively allowing herd testing to be conducted every day, or any day required.
Having the data held on remote servers eliminates the need for on farm software and the usual updates, and makes access to the data as simple as logging onto the internet with a password.
MilkHub’s online management tools can also lessen the frustrations identified with access to records, repeated data entry and security of data - areas of responsibility that women often pick up.
MilkHub has made significant software investment to put data online, and Ross Nilson says the company appreciated the supportive and effective on-line community Dairy Women’s Network had created.
"As everything we do is online, including training, communications and management, it's a forum we are familiar with and would like contribute to in the best practice realm,” he says.
The MilkHub partnership with Dairy Women’s Network is also particularly timely, given the company’s recent announcement it is to work more closely with CRV Ambreed. CRV Ambreed is also a Network Partner with the Dairy Women’s Network.
The partnership also recently announced between MilkHub and CRV Ambreed eliminates the need for double data entry by farmers for such information as calving dates, and allows viewing of key breeding data, and access to the National Dairy Database.
