Sport Wellington CEO To Step Down

12 OCTOBER 2011

Sport Wellington CEO To Step Down

Long serving CEO of Sport Wellington, Paul Cameron, is to leave the organisation.

Announcing his resignation, Cameron said, "After 15 special years in the role it is time to step down and let someone else guide Sport Wellington on the next stage of its journey."

Sport Wellington's role is to promote and support sport and recreation in the region.

Ross Graham, Chair of the Sport Wellington Board of Trustees said that "Paul has given long and outstanding service to the organisation."

"Many programmes, events and facilities that we have available in our region, to foster sport and recreation, have been directly and positively shaped by Paul's leadership. For example, the long running and successful AMI Round the Bays fun run and Dominion Post Sportsperson of the Year awards are just two activities that Paul has been instrumental in developing to become iconic Wellington events."

Cameron commented, "I will take away many wonderful memories from my tenure at Sport Wellington. I believe I leave the organisation in sound shape, and with a strong financial base."

Cameron will leave the organisation at the end of the year. The Sport Wellington Board will begin the process to appoint a new CEO.
