Auckland Airport a five times finalist in sustainability awards
Auckland Airport a finalist across all five categories of the 2011 Sustainable 60 Awards.
The Sustainable 60 Awards, organised by
Fairfax Media and Price Waterhouse Coopers, recognise and
reward businesses that are leading the way in sustainable
business practice in New Zealand.
The awards feature five different categories that have been identified as important for sustainable businesses - strategy and governance, environment, community, workplace and marketplace. Auckland Airport is the only business in the country in this year's awards to be named as a finalist in all five of these categories.
Martin Fryer, sustainability advisor for
Auckland Airport, says "It is fantastic to be chosen as a
finalist in all five categories of the Sustainable 60 Awards
this year. This is recognition from our peers involved in
sustainable practice throughout New Zealand, which makes it
particularly rewarding."
Martin also adds that "this year
Auckland Airport has entered the final year of its first
'five-year sustainability action plan'. To receive peer
reviewed recognition of our efforts and achievements to date
is very gratifying."
This year marks the third annual
Sustainable 60 Awards, with the winners to be announced on
30 November 2011.
