New Top Energy Director Appointed
A new director has been appointed to the Board of Top Energy Ltd.
Greg Steed grew up in Kaitaia and was educated at Kaitaia College. Having gained a commerce degree at Auckland
University in 1980, Greg started his working career in the accounting field but then moved to Carter Holt Harvey, where
he worked for many years in the areas of strategy, logistics and distribution. Since 2008 he has been Chairman of the
New Zealand Shippers Council.
Steed says “I am very pleased to have been appointed to the Top Energy Board. I’m a proud Northlander and have always
had a desire to contribute to the region. I am optimistic about the opportunities available in the North”.
Robin Shepherd, Chairman of the Top Energy Consumer Trust, which appoints directors to Top Energy’s Board said, “After
consultation with the Chairman of the Company, we identified Greg as having commercial skills and experience which fit
well with the Group’s requirements at this stage of its development - particularly as Top Energy works through its
network investment programme, to virtually double the size of its network over the next 10 years.”
Steed’s appointment follows the retirement from the Board in June of Doug Troon and restores the full complement of
directors to 6. Other Top Energy Directors are; Paul Byrnes (Chairman), Mike Simm (Deputy Chairman), Peter
White-Robinson, Andrew Kelleher and Paul White. In addition, Robert Kirkpatrick is the Independent Director for Ngawha
Generation Limited.
