Crossbred Wools Firm Strongly
New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s General Manager, Mr John Dawson reports that the 14,743 bales of South Island wool on offer were mainly made up of Good Colour Crossbred Fleece and Early Shorn and Second Shear.
A drop in the weighted indicator against the main trading currencies and good buying interest from China and Europe has seen the market rise in price between 2.5 and 5 percent.
Mr Dawson advises that Merino wools didn’t fair so well compared to the market on the 15th September where 17 to 18.5 micron were 15 to 20 percent cheaper and 19 to 20 micron 5 to 10 percent cheaper.
Mid micron wools 25 to 28 micron were down by 3 percent, 28.5 and coarser remained firm.
Principal buying came mainly from China, Europe with good support from Middle East and Australasia.
Next sale on 6 October comprises approximately 8,300 bales of North Island wool only.
