Snapper and SmartPay develop retail partnership
Wellington, 29 September 2011
New Zealand-based contactless payments company Snapper, today announces that it has partnered with payments and transactional solution provider SmartPay to offer Snapper to SmartPay's retail network through their popular PAX terminal range.
Extending the existing taxi solution
Miki Szikszai, Snapper CEO says, "There are already over 2,500 SmartPay terminals operating in taxis across the country that accept payment with Snapper. We've been working with SmartPay to extend that capability into the general retail sector so that it is easy for SmartPay's retailers to upgrade to New Zealand's leading contactless payment system.
"Snapper is available on SmartPay's PAX terminal range. What's great about these terminals is they are all-in-one units with the contactless reader built right in to the handheld terminal. The terminals are therefore very compact which makes them ideal for a wide range of different retail environments.
"The PAX terminal range also includes a mobile handheld solution for on the spot payments. This is perfect for bars, restaurants or at events, enabling fast payment right at the spot where customers are eating and drinking, instead of queuing separately at the bar or counter to pay.
Building strong channel partners
“Snapper has built the core Snapper top-up network to support public transport users through its own dedicated sales team. To achieve scale coverage beyond this requires partnerships with strong channel partners.”
"Snapper has partnered with SmartPay for two reasons. First, it is a natural extension of the taxi solution that has been deployed nationwide. Secondly, SmartPay is a strong channel partner that fits well with Snapper's retail proposition - reducing queues for everyday purchases. Snapper is looking forward to growing it's retail footprint through its ongoing partnership with SmartPay.”
“SmartPay joins Snapper’s existing retail partner, EFTPOS NZ. Snapper continues to develop retail partnerships for other categories, and we intend to announce additional retail partners soon.”
SmartPay customers that are interested in an easy upgrade to Snapper can contact SmartPay on 0800 10 10 40.
