Invivo Sauvignon Blanc Wins Champion Trophy At Marlborough Wine Show

The Invivo 2011 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has collected the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc trophy and Champion Wine of the Show
trophy at the inaugural Marlborough Wine Show Awards held over the weekend in Blenheim. With over 400 Marlborough wines
entered, the unique competition set out to demonstrate to the world’s wine media and global wine markets that
Marlborough offers significant and valuable diversity through its subregions and wine styles.
Invivo winemaker and cofounder Rob Cameron stated "For me, personally, it is my first trophy as a winemaker so it is a
pretty big deal and as a company it is massive, we have only been going four years and are fairly new to the business
but have been going from strength to strength,"
Cameron has been making wine for 12 years, qualifying from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Viticulture and
Enology. He spent his early years learning his craft at Villa Maria and Rapaura Vintners. His work then took Cameron
overseas initially shunning the more sought after locations in California, France or Italy and instead he spent 7 years
making wine in often challenging conditions in the likes of Moldova, Cyprus and Slovenia before working vintages in
France and Spain. He credits those early years in Central and Eastern Europe for learning some valuable lessons in
winemaking amongst extreme conditions.
The Marlborough Wine Show’s judging team was led by highly respected Chief Judge, Jeff Clarke and included leading
Marlborough winemaker judges Olly Masters, Cath Oates, Simon Waghorn, Patrick Materman and Anna Flowerday. Guest
international judge was Melbourne based Ben Edwards, President of the Australian Sommeliers Association. Show director
Belinda Jackson said “The outstanding classes in the competition were the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc, the 2010 Pinot Noir, the
aged Riesling and the sweet wines.”
Invivo was founded in 2007 by Rob Cameron and Tim Lightbourne, they launched their first wines in 2008 and the wines can
now be found in 11 countries. The Invivo Sauvignon Blanc has been selected by Air New Zealand for the last two years and
served onboard flights and Koru lounges. Invivo currently produces Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rosé and a
lower calorie 9% alcohol Sauvignon Blanc “Bella by Invivo”.
