Ziera steps forward with donation for Christchurch
National shoe retailer Ziera is donating $20,000 to the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The funds represent proceeds raised by a limited edition shoe released into Ziera stores nationwide in May.
From every pair of the shoes sold, Ziera donated $20.00 to a relief fund and the company has topped up the amount to reach the $20,000 goal
Managing director Andrew Robertson says a fundraising shoe was an obvious way for the company to help out those affected by the tragedy.
“What better way to show our support for our fellow Cantabrians than this. We are thrilled at the response and it shows New Zealanders want to put their best foot forward for the Garden City,” he says.
Mr Robertson says he was surprised at how many pairs sold in Christchurch stores.
“Although the shoes were produced for a fundraising effort, it shows Cantabrians are behind their city and want to help their neighbours in any way possible.
“We hope people across the country will continue to wear the shoes as a sign we are always thinking of Christchurch,” he says.
The Red Cross will receive the $20,000 donation today.
