New HSBC Campaign To Encourage Member Recommendations

PRESS RELEASE

12 September 2011 For immediate release

HSBC Launches New Campaign To Encourage Member Recommendations

HSBC has today announced that it is launching an initiative to encourage current HSBC Premier customers to recommend their friends to the Bank. To show our appreciation for referrals that result in a friend or family member successfully becoming a new HSBC Premier customer we will offer the referrer a $300 ‘prezzy card’1.

This campaign is in direct response to the uncertainty being experienced by some New Zealanders who are unsure of the direction that their current bank is taking. It also follows HSBC’s recent announcement about bringing our 11th HSBC Premier Rewards partner (Hotel DeBrett) on board2.

John Barclay, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, at HSBC New Zealand says: “Recently we’ve had a number of exploratory phone calls from individuals who are unhappy with the uncertainty they are facing over their current bank’s decisions in the market place. As a number of our customers already recommend family, friends and colleagues to us, we decided that we wanted to make the process official and thank them for referring us new business.”

“Many banks talk about being able to offer a relationship managed service, but at HSBC every Premier customer is allocated a dedicated Relationship Manager who can help manage the customer’s daily banking requirements and assist them in making informed financial decisions. In addition, HSBC Premier customers are eligible for discounts from our HSBC Premier Rewards partners, have exclusive use of our business lounge facilities, pay no ATM fees anywhere in New Zealand or for use of HSBC ATMs worldwide and have access to instant emergency cash advances3 of US$2,000,” continues Barclay.
