Food contamination, fraud, adulteration to be addressed at International Conference
Forensic experts, food scientists, producers and regulators are meeting in Wellington on the 1 & 2 November for the third annual GoTrace Conference.
The need for a range of scientific and forensic tools to combat food fraud, misrepresentation, and contamination has never been greater with daily occurrences of food safety and food security issues occurring around the globe.
New Zealand producers and New Zealand products are not immune from this risk.
The theme of the conference is “assuring food integrity” with keynote speakers from New Zealand, Australia, UK and the USA presenting papers on the latest techniques and latest requirements for exports.
The Conference will also address two key questions: Are New Zealand products safe in the international market place? Is food in New Zealand safe and the supply chain transparent?
Conference Chair, Dr Helen Darling, is pleased with the line-up of speakers who represent those achieving cutting edge science innovations and representatives of leading producer groups, she believes that there will be “an audience of those who need to protect their products sitting alongside those with the answers: internationally acclaimed forensic and food experts.”
Dr Darling believes that the conference will generate incredible opportunities for New Zealand businesses, “it’s going to be an inspiring event”.
