Waiouru Houses Back By Popular Demand
The Defence Force has released a further stage of houses for removal from Waiouru due to popular demand. The most recent
stage of 15 houses all sold at tender for an average price of $32,750 and top dollar of $45,500. A new offering of 15
houses is being marketed by Land Matters and are of similar solid 1950’s era construction perfect for renovation. Sam
Pritchard from Land Matters says previous purchasers have been very happy with the quality, adaptability and price paid
for such solid wooden framed houses.
The recent sales have taken the total number of houses sold at Waiouru to 64 as part of the Housing Rationalisation
Programme which is focused on the disposal of older housing stock in order to reduce maintenance costs. Over 32,000
views were received from interested parties on TradeMe for these houses indicating the strong demand. Purchasers are
taking houses to a wide area including Waikato, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Whanganui, Wairarapa, Manawatu and Wellington
regions. Houses are planned to be used as holiday homes, farm worker accommodation and rental properties.
Open days for the new release of houses are being held from 10am – 3pm this Saturday 3 September and Saturday 10
September if required. All houses will be open for inspection. A brief property description is available through the
Land Matters website www.landmattersnz.com or on TradeMe. Interested parties are requested to register by contacting Land Matters on 06 364 7293 or registering
