New Property Initiative Welcomed
Representatives from across the New Zealand public and private business sectors welcomed a new property initiative which
was launched last week.
Professional Pathways is the new innovative online learning tool, developed by the Property Institute of New Zealand,
which will provide the education platform to become registered in specialised property sectors such as Property
Management, Facilities Management, and Property Advisory and Consultancy.
Phil Hinton, President of the Property Institute of New Zealand says “Whilst there has been a clear defined path to
become a Registered Valuer, there has been no similar process to achieve registration in other sectors of the property
profession. Professional Pathways will guide members through three levels of modules tailored to cover the competencies
and knowledge required to operate proficiently in specialised property sectors”.
“Our members have been crying out for a way to formally demonstrate the knowledge and expertise they hold to their
clients, and it is fantastic to see that this initiative has been equally welcomed by key clients of professional
property services.”
“Clients now have an appropriate way to validate the knowledge of the property professionals they choose to engage” Mr
Hinton says.
The Professional Pathways will also provide the means to achieve full membership of the Property Institute. The new
requirements for registration in a specialised property sector and membership will be progressively introduced, with new
members entering the Institute needing to commence the new criteria from November 2011.
