ACT List Confirms ACT as Pro-Farming Party – Brash/Nicolson
Former Federated Farmers President Don Nicolson’s high ranking on the ACT Party list announced today makes ACT the true
farmers' party, says ACT New Zealand leader Dr Don Brash.
It’s no secret that farmers are tired of being treated like the political fall-guy, especially by National. Many have
supported National in the past, but in ACT, they have a political party that will truly speak their language and be
their voice in Parliament, Dr Brash says.
National has taken farmer support for granted, so my message to farmers is to split their votes.
"On November 26 they can return their local National MP and, by giving ACT their party vote, get a pro-farming party in
Parliament as well, Dr Brash says.
Don Nicolson agrees with Dr Brash.
Farmers have often spoken of a farmers' party ... and ACT is the real deal," Mr Nicolson says.
On rural issues, many farmers have found National wanting and at times, spineless. We get clean-green rammed down our
throats when farmers are largely clean and green already. We have a great environmental and economic story to tell
because were out there doing instead of pontificating.
But National won't stick up for farmers for fear of upsetting urban environmentalists.
The ACT team is working on an agricultural manifesto that recognises farming's importance .
It’s part of an ambitious economic policy not only to catch Australia, but surpass it. Our policies will take not just
farming, but business and all of society forward. I’m deeply honoured to be part of the ACT Party team.
"By party-voting ACT, farmers will send National a message while bringing a larger, pro-farming ACT Party back into
Parliament, Mr Nicolson concludes.
