High Powered Delegation To Promote Eco Tourism
Ngati Kuta, Patukeha and CSN Ventures are preparing to receive a high powered delegation from Malaysia on 23rd September 2011. The delegation of about 15 will be in the country for 7 days. They represent strategic partnerships established by Te Rawhiti Enterprises and CSN Ventures on behalf of Ngati Kuta and Patukeha from the Bay Of Islands.
The delegation represents Eco & Cultural Tourism interests and elite educational and training institutions such as Sendi Pertiwi Travel and Masa College (Kolej Masa). A memorandum of understanding has been signed between these two dynamic institutions and Te Rawhiti Maori.
It is also hoped a third MOU with the government owned University Kabangsaan Malaysia will also be formalized during this visit.
Robert Willoughby, CEO of Te Rawhiti Enterprises says, “This is a reciprocal visit to promote joint programs for Eco and Cultural Tourism, Student Tourism, Student OE visits and an exchange of student talent between Maori and Malaysia to support and encourage tertiary learning particularly for Maori students.
These joint ventures are supported by the University of Auckland’s Mira Szaszy Centre for Maori & Pacific Economic Studies. Professor, Dr Manuka Henare supports the idea of a student exchange between Malay and Maori students to experience overseas learning in their chosen subjects which is one of the key objectives of the partnership visit.
Another key objective of the visit is to discuss a new model of student recruitment to higher schools of learning, which involves working with families, high schools, and universities.
The Malaysian delegation will be welcomed at the University of Auckland before travelling to Northland. (A full itinerary will be available at the powhiri)
Reo speakers will also be available for Maori Language Media.
