Devil’s Advocate departs Hell – RIP Otis
Hell Pizza is today mourning one of its most colourful campaigners.
Warren (Otis) Powell has announced he is stepping down as a director of Hell Revolution Limited. Warren is departing
Hell for the cooler heat of California.
In his many years with the hugely successful franchise business, Warren has been well known for a devilish sense of
humor and a real passion for the Hell concept.
He was a driving force behind the company's early explosive growth. In the five years between 2001 and 2006, Hell
rapidly grew from 4 to 66 stores.
The company has since expanded overseas, with Hell outlets in Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Now based in San Francisco, Warren has decided to sell his shares to New Zealand-based business partners Callum Davies
and Stu McMullin.
He says he's sure Hell will continue to be one of New Zealand's hottest, and most irreverent brands.
"The Hell success story has been built on great staff, loyal franchisees and gifted business partners," he says.
"I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved in the space of a few short years.
“One of my career highlights was the day Callum and Stu began using planes to commute between Wellington and business
meetings in Auckland.
“In the very early days, they would drive all night rather than fly. This was how they saved money to grow the business.
"And that's so typical of the commitment that runs through the entire Hell operation.”
