Blackmarket Extends Its Deals to Wine Trade
Bars, restaurants and hotels across the country are signing on to the newest, trade-specific site from New Zealand’s biggest and most successful wine e-tailer – blackmarket.co.nz.
Called www.blackmarkettrade.co.nz the subsidiary site offers wholesale wine deals which are exclusive to licensed on-premise establishments.
Managing director Richard Knight says blackmarket | trade offers restaurants, bars and hotels convenient access to a wide range of four and five-star wines from well-known New Zealand and overseas wineries at very competitive prices
“This new model allows associated wineries and distributors to advertise, market and distribute their own product direct to trade.”
Many of the advertised wines will be available exclusively to blackmarket | trade customers and with advertised wine prices ranging from $6.99 to $8,500* per bottle there is guaranteed to be something for every establishment’s wine list.
“We’re also excited to be launching a pick-and-mix department early September where trade customers will be able to build their own box.”
Knight, who has worked in the New Zealand wine industry for more than 20 years, says both suppliers and licensed premises will benefit from the launch of blackmarket | trade.
"We're excited to offer on-premise businesses the chance to take advantage of the sort of deals we already offer our consumer customers through blackmarket.co.nz.
“Restaurants and bars are signing on quickly via word-of-mouth and are getting very good deals, such as the 5 Star Lonestone Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc for $8.36* per bottle or the 5 Star Lonestone Central Otago Pinot Noir block 2 2009 at $11.56* per bottle,” says Knight.
Sam Lamb of Rocco Tapas & Wine Bar in Thames says blackmarket | trade allows his restaurant access a great range of wines to add to their wine list, many of which are exclusive to blackmarket.
“I wanted to offer our guests a unique experience, by providing a range of wines they wouldn't find in liquor stores or the supermarket, but finding the time to make contact with the many wineries was too time-consuming. With blackmarket I can easily look through wine varieties, read the reviews, select for my specific price-points, order and pay online at a time that suits me,” says Lamb.
Knight says the savings available on blackmarket | trade can be used either to increase re-seller margins or be passed on to customers. “Either way it’s win-win for licensed on-premise establishments.
“Combining our existing customers with on-premise clients will offer many exciting opportunities going forward to extend the blackmarket offering and will ensure that we can continue to offer great deals to wine lovers throughout the country."
blackmarketco.nz has been forging relationships with New Zealand's leading wineries for more than 10 years. From humble beginnings in 2000, when it was selling one wine to their one and only member, blackmarket.co.nz today attracts 300 to 400 new wine enthusiasts every 10 days.
Licensed premises can access exclusive deals by registering their details at www.blackmarkettrade.co.nz, or www.blackmarket.co.nz/trade
