New Food Editor for New Zealand Woman’s Weekly
One of New Zealand’s best-loved cooks, Annabelle White, is joining the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly as its Food Editor, following in the footsteps of such celebrated names as Tui Flower and Robyn Martin.
The longtime food writer and TV presenter has charmed readers and viewers alike for more than 20 years through her TV shows, newspaper columns and regular radio gigs. She is only the fifth ever Food Editor in the Weekly’s 79 year history.
Annabelle is known for her family-friendly, fast and fun cuisine which she will bring each week to New Zealand’s best-read magazine. Her new food section, which will launch in September, includes new recipes, foodie tips from experts around the country, readers’ contributions and Annabelle’s inimitable style of casual food for friends and family made with simple ingredients.
“My emphasis is on gorgeous Kiwi produce and flavours in dishes that everyone can make in their own kitchens. Giving cooks confidence and pleasure with recipes that are not only delicious but also easy and really work makes food writing so rewarding ” says Annabelle. “There will be more intricate dinner party food and lots of ways to entertain, but the emphasis is on fast, fun and fabulous. Everyday foodie or gourmet is the best approach.”
The author of 10 cookbooks including the bestseller Annabelle White’s Best Recipes, Annabelle is also known as an authority on food products, testing brands weekly and advising readers on what to use in their kitchen. She says that joining such an iconic magazine, in such an important role, is a highlight of her long career.
“Food and cooking is a huge focus for so many of the Weekly’s loyal readers and I want us to have a lot of fun with it together. Bringing cooks nationwide into the kitchen each week and sharing good food is such a simple but essential thing to do.”
Annabelle joins other big food names Peta Mathias (Entertaining), chef Simon Gault (Q and A) and Wendyl Nissen (Nana’s Pantry) in the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, which is the only weekly title to have a wholly New Zealand food section. Editor Sarah Stuart says bringing this team of talented foodies together each week has just one aim. “We want to inspire Kiwi women to love to cook – whether it’s a deliciously simple 10-minute stir-fry for a family dinner or the kind of three-course extravaganza you’d pay a fortune for at a restaurant. The new Weekly food section is a celebration of what women love to eat.”
