High Court sets dates for Exide judicial review proceedings
The High Court in Wellington will hold an urgent hearing on 5 and 6 September 2011 to decide Exide Technologies Limited
application for judicial review.
Exide has filed an application against the Attorney General asking the Court to consider whether, by granting consents
to export used lead acid batteries in circumstances where they could be disposed of in an environmentally sound and
efficient manner in New Zealand, the Government has complied with New Zealand's international and domestic legal
obligations as incorporated into NZ law.
The Crown is currently considering 4 applications to export approximately 17,800 ULABs, but those applications are now
unlikely to be decided before the hearing.
