Press Release: Boycott Adidas Campaign
Adidas must stop their block of New Zealanders immediately.
Today, Rebel Sport has reduced the price of the All Blacks supporters’ jerseys in a bid to stop the outcry against what is happening. This is not enough.
While the original issue New Zealanders had been they could get it cheaper overseas than they can from their local retailer, this is no longer the issue. Now, Adidas New Zealand has stopped international online retailers from shipping to New Zealanders. This is wrong.
Members of Parliament should start looking at what they are saying on this issue. We welcome Prime Minister John Key speaking out against Adidas. However, we do not welcome members of the ACT Party saying that it’s just the free market and people should get over it. How is this a free market? Blocking people from purchasing at certain retailers is anything is a restricted market. It brings back memories of Robert Muldoon’s Government. This is not good enough.
We make a call for Adidas New Zealand to stop blocking New Zealanders from purchasing overseas. We make a call for Adidas Global to either stand behind Adidas New Zealand or make it clear they do not support what is happening here. We make a call for the New Zealand Rugby Union to support New Zealanders over international corporations and speak out against this.
Please, if you support us, go to www.facebook.com/groups/boycott.adidas.nz and let the world know you are against this situation. Make your voice heard. Join us.
