Organic skincare company steps up certification
One of New Zealand’s leading organic skincare companies has recently made a move for its skincare brand ‘geoskincare’ to be certified by New Zealand’s leading organic certifier BioGro.
Being certified-organic by BioGro is a significant achievement for the Hamilton-based company which markets its skincare products throughout New Zealand and is starting to grow the range around the world.
Previously certified by AssureQuality, NZ Skincare Company, which makes and markets the geoskincare range says the decision to switch its organic certification to BioGro was an easy one. “BioGro is 100% focused on organics and has been at the forefront of commercial organics in New Zealand since it was founded over 28 years ago. Like us, BioGro continues to be led by its original philosophical roots with Organic Standards that support its founding organic principles” says Penny Vergeest, Director at NZ Skincare Company.
She adds “Being associated with BioGro guarantees our customers that the highest organic standards have been met every step of the way. Customers can be sure we are using products that contain pure, certified-organic ingredients – this is our commitment to them.”
“Because there is no specific labelling law surrounding what can be called natural or organic, some companies have been taking advantage of that. The consumer loses out because they end up unsure about which products are actually natural or organic. Being independently certified gives our customers confidence that they are using products that avoid harmful chemicals such as phenoxyethanol, parabens, mineral oil, petrochemicals, sodium lauryl sulphate, genetically modified ingredients, artificial colours or fragrances, propylene glycol, pegs, deas, edta, triethanolamine, isopropyl alcohol, and formaldehyde.”
The company, founded in 2000 by Penny Vergeest, uses organic ingredients made from unique minerals found only in New Zealand geothermal regions, pure extracts and organic oils to create natural skincare solutions.
BioGro’s CEO Michelle Glogau says ‘The organic health and body care sector is growing and NZ Skincare Company being certified organic by us is evidence of this. Meeting our Organic Standards demonstrates the company’s commitment to organics and acknowledges the recognition of our brand amongst its customers’.
BioGro gives its certified-producers like NZ Skincare Company access to markets all over the world because its trademark is trusted internationally. BioGro is the trading company of the New Zealand Biological Producers and Consumers Society, a not-for-profit, organic producer and consumer organisation, actively working to grow organics in New Zealand.
