Lion Welcomes Shine and DDB into the Pride
After a closed pitch process over the last two months, Lion has today announced lead agencies for its two most popular local brands, Steinlager and Speight’s.
DDB will become the creative force for Steinlager, while Shine has been assigned as lead agency for Speight’s. Each agency will take over the full trademark of brands effective immediately.
Danny Phillips, Lion Beer Marketing and Sponsorship Director says, “We are very pleased about the appointment of Shine and DDB. In recent months, both agencies have shown what they are capable of, and we believe our brands are in very good hands.”
“Unfortunately this does bring to a close our long and very successful tenure with Publicis Mojo. We are hugely appreciative of what Mojo has done for our business over the years, with three big highlights being the launch of Steinlager Pure and the Speight’s Great Beer Delivery and Southern Finishing School campaigns. We wish them all the best,” says Phillips.
DDB Group CEO, Sandy Moore is delighted by their win, “We are excited to move forward with Steinlager. It comes on top of our recent successful re-introduction of the Steinlager Classic white can promotion, which is creating quite a stir in the beer market. We are proud that Lion have entrusted us with the advertising requirements of their truly iconic Kiwi brands, Steinlager Classic, Steinlager Pure and Steinlager Edge.”
Co-Owner of Shine, Simon Curran is also thrilled with their selection, "We are excited to have won the Speight’s business and broaden our work within Lion’s portfolio of beer brands, which now includes Mac's, Becks, and the Speight's range. As New Zealand's largest beer brand, with an incredible story and existing support, it’s a great time to be a part of the next chapter for Speight’s.”
