Aorangi Provedores Cruise To Victory In Western Union Service Excellence Awards
Western Union Agent Aorangi Provedores located at the Timaru Seafarers Centre was recognized in the annual Western Union(r) Top Gun service excellence program.
Aorangi Provedores won the accolade by processing the most number of transactions through Western Union(r) Gold Card within the program period, beating 65 other Western Union(r) Agent locations in New Zealand.
The Western Union Gold Card was launched to offer loyal consumers added convenience. Western Union Gold Card users can pre-register their personal details with Western Union to eliminate the need to fill in a send form for subsequent transactions, making it more convenient and faster to send money.
Owner of Aorangi Provedores John Blunden was thrilled to receive the award, saying, "The Western Union(r) Money TransferSM service is one of our most important services for the crews that come through the Port of Timaru. As we celebrate 10-years of service this year, I've known many of our customers on a personal basis that have used the Western Union service through us to send their hard-earned money home.
"Our customers find the Western Union Gold Card particularly useful as it makes transaction times much quicker. Once the crews notify their recipients of the Money Transfer Control Number of the transaction, the person on the other end can collect the money sent at any Western Union Agent location around the world - perhaps even before our customer walks out the door."
Western Union Gold Card registration is free and application forms can be obtained at any participating Agent locations throughout New Zealand.
"We have crews in from the Philippines, China, Indonesia, India, Japan, Kiribati, South Korea, Eastern Europe and Russia. Being able to rely on us to transfer money in minutes* via Western Union at the seafarers centre is really important given their limited time ashore. The Western Union brand, their 160-year heritage and over 135 years of money transfer experience makes a real difference to our customers," John Blunden concluded.
Bridget Dennis, Western Union Regional Manager of New Zealand and Isles, said judging was tough but Aorangi Provedores thoroughly deserved the award, "Since Aorangi Provedores started offering Western Union Money Transfer services in 2007, they have gone from strength to strength. The seafarers centre provides an invaluable service to the port and the community. We congratulate Aorangi Provedores on both the award and its tenth anniversary as managers of the Timaru Seafarers Centre."
