Toll calling prices slashed with Slingshot!
While New Zealanders wait to see reduced calling rates from landlines to mobiles from most big Telco’s following this
year’s Mobile Termination Rates decision, Slingshot is leading the charge with lower than ever calling rates.
The company is leading the way once again in delivering the best deals to New Zealanders with the announcement of huge
reductions to its homeline to mobile and tolls plan prices, making it cheaper than ever for New Zealanders to use their
home phones.
General Manager of Slingshot Scott Page says: “New Zealanders continue to pay too much just to talk to each other in
their own country.
“Other telecommunications providers have been reluctant to pass on the savings that the new mobile termination
legislation offers, choosing instead to maintain customer spend and revenue.”
The two new toll plans, Talk A Lot and Talk Longer, offer cut-price rates from homelines to any New Zealand or
Australian landlines or New Zealand mobile on any network at any time.
Talk A Lot offers frequent toll call makers a flat rate of 14 cents per minute, while Talk Longer customers can talk for
up to 2 hours on any toll call and pay just $2.50.
“Customers can rest assured they are calling on a flat rate of just 14 cents per minute with no restrictions on which
network they call or the time of day,” says Mr Page.
While a half hour call from a homeline to a New Zealand mobile could cost up to $16.50 (or .55c per min) with other
major networks, the same call would cost just $4.20 (or 14 cents per min) with Slingshot’s Talk A Lot rates, a saving of
more than $12 on a single phone call.
Unlike other toll calling packages, customers do not need to sign up their home phone with Slingshot and can choose to
be a tolls only customer.
Showing it is stepping up in an increasingly competitive market, the Talk Longer and Talk A Lot plans come hot on the
heels of Slingshot’s announcement last week of its All You Can Eat, unlimited data broadband plan which is available now
for half price for the first six months.
Mr Page urges customers to check what they are being charged.
“It’s time New Zealanders realise that they have a choice, shop around for the best deal and keep the money in their own
pocket,” says Mr Page.
