Cookie Time Limited Launches Limited Edition Chocolate Chunk Cookie For Christchurch Campaign

Christchurch-based company Cookie Time Limited is tomorrow (Thursday) launching a limited edition version of its original Chocolate Chunk cookie as it throws its weight behind the Love Christchurch Made campaign.

The specially packaged cookie, featuring the red and black Love Christchurch Made tag, will be available at more than 6000 retail outlets throughout New Zealand for the next six months. The aim is to encourage people to buy Christchurch made products, and help get the city back on its feet as it continues to deal with the impacts of two major earthquakes and ongoing aftershocks.

Lincoln Booth, CTL general manager, says it is important to reinforce the message that Christchurch businesses need support now as much as ever.

“Nearly twelve months down the track from the first major earthquake, many companies are back on their feet but still need ongoing support. Especially as they face the reality of rebuilding their businesses while dealing with the day to day impacts of the aftershocks,” he says.

CTL was back to full production two weeks after the devastating February earthquake, but many staff have had homes damaged and CTL franchised distributors with Christchurch runs remain affected by lower demand as people move out of the area.

“Since February, we have donated more than 25,000 cookies and bars to the relief effort. Now we want to look at ongoing ways to help our city and rebuild our local economy. As a proud family owned, Christchurch-based business, we want to see our city once more become a vibrant centre,” Booth says.

“Using the strength of our brand to promote the cause makes sense, and will also have downstream benefits for our many Christchurch suppliers who provide ingredients for our product.”

The Love Christchurch Made campaign is a BusinessNZ initiative designed so that consumers can be sure they are giving custom to companies from the earthquake-stricken region.
