Fulton Hogan greatly saddened at passing of CEO Bill Perry
Fulton Hogan is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden and unexpected death of its New Zealand Chief Executive, Bill
Perry, who passed away on Saturday morning.
He was rushed to Christchurch hospital early Saturday morning suffering from an aggressive meningococcal infection and
died some hours later.
Nick Miller, managing director for the Fulton Hogan Group, said the sympathies of the entire company are with Bill’s
wife Nicole and his three children Sam, Eliza and Angus.
”Bill was a charismatic leader who led from the front. He was a big man, with a big heart, totally committed to his
family and who was always at his best in a crisis. In his three years as chief executive Bill tackled all the big issues
head on. The tough economic conditions caused by the global financial crisis on our contracting business and the
Christchurch earthquakes showcased his outstanding leadership.
“His values and principles were unwaivering. Australian by birth and education, he quickly became a kiwi by adoption.
His wisdom, knowledge, personality and sense of humour overlayed a steely resolve to do nothing but his best for his
people, the company and the wider community.
”For all of us at Fulton Hogan, Bill was not only a very respected and trusted work colleague but also a very good
friend who will be sorely missed by a large number of people both in the company and wider business and contracting
fraternity. He made friends easily,” Nick Miller said.
Bill Perry was a member of the Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Alliance ( Stronger Christchurch Alliance),
a member of the Fulton Hogan Group Executive, a director of Associate companies, a board member of Roading New Zealand,
a member of Business Leaders Safety Council and a former member of the Auckland Motorway Alliance.
A funeral service will be held in Christchurch on Friday.
