PSA launches election campaign

1st August 2011

PSA launches election campaign – Public Services Keep New Zealand Working

The PSA, the country’s biggest union, is expecting wide support for the launch of its election campaign – Public Services Keep New Zealand Working.

“We’ve travelled the country and met with our members, MPs and community groups in the lead up to this campaign launch. People aren’t buying the Government’s message that public services need to be cut to solve the country’s debt crisis. They know the debt problem is mostly made up of private debt. Cutting public services won’t address that,” says PSA National Secretary Brenda Pilott.

“New Zealand’s public services are among the most innovative and efficient in the world. More cuts will weaken them and the skilled people who deliver them will inevitably go elsewhere,” says PSA National Secretary Richard Wagstaff.

“Investing in public services is a win for everyone. As well as supporting the wider economy, strong public services make New Zealand a fairer, more equal society,” says Mr Wagstaff.

We’re delighted to have Raybon Kan as master of ceremonies. His engaging wit and talent alone make this a launch not to miss.
