Melbourne General Manager John McKay has worked in sales and marketing for more than 18 years, includes 11 years as Creative Services Manager at Crown Casino. John headed a team of 40 staff at Crown where he managed all promotional and sponsorship activity for clients including Diageo, Toyota, BMW and Vodafone. He has managed activations for major events including World Cup Soccer, Olympic Games, cricket, rugby and the Australian Grand Prix.
John’s career has also seen him contribute extensively to the not for profit sector, running events and marketing for the Shane Warne Foundation over a four year period and working closely with Robert Allenby’s Charity Challenge to support children with cancer for over 10 years.
Will Riley, Managing Director of Aegis Media Pacific’s Activations Division and founder of Apollo, said: “We have a great opportunity to better service Apollo’s existing client base with a permanent presence in both Sydney and Melbourne.”
“We have the benefit of collaborating with other Aegis Media businesses to further drive our growth in Melbourne. In particular we’ll work closely with experiential agency Impact to deliver a broad Activations offering. Our ambition is to see Apollo become the biggest promotional and shopper marketing agency in Australasia.”
Luke Littlefield, CEO of Aegis Media Pacific, said: “The expansion of Apollo to Melbourne is an exciting step and we plan to grow the business rapidly to ultimately match the Apollo teams in Sydney and Auckland, which each have around 25 staff. With John McKay as General Manager and a very talented team in place initially, Apollo enters the Melbourne market in an extremely strong position.”
“John has significant experience in successfully delivering promotional and marketing campaigns as well as extensive sales and business development skills. He is extremely well connected within the corporate and sporting sector throughout Melbourne and we look forward to seeing Apollo’s success extend to Melbourne under his leadership.”
In addition to John, the foundation team for Apollo Melbourne includes Group Account Director Karen Godfrey and Account Director Aisha Krupski, who is transferring from the Sydney office, along with two account managers.
