Auckland Airport welcomes new Korean Air services
Auckland Airport welcomes the announcement that Korean Air will increase the frequency of flights between Auckland and Seoul for the peak season.
To cater for higher demand over the summer season, Korean Air has confirmed that it will increase its Auckland to Seoul service from seven flights per week to 10 flights per week for December and January.
Glenn Wedlock, Auckland Airport general manager aeronautical commercial, says, “We have a clear growth strategy focused on driving more travel demand out of Asia. Korean Air’s announcement of increased services between Auckland and Seoul is the latest in a number of successes we have achieved in growing the Asian travel market.”
“Better connections with Asia are critical for New Zealand trade and tourism and in the last 12 months alone Auckland Airport has seen China Southern offer new services between Auckland and Guangzhou, Malaysian Airlines increase direct flights to Kuala Lumpur from five to six flights per week and Jetstar offer daily flights between Singapore and Auckland. Korean Air increasing its services is another demonstration of the commitment to our market and we were delighted to work with Korean Air to deliver this.”
Stan Bennetto, sales and marketing manager for Korean Air, says, “Our daily service, which arrives in Seoul early evening, has been hugely popular with long-haul travellers because of the complimentary overnight hotel service that we offer. One of the great benefits of the additional three flights per week, over the months of December and January, is that it will offer our customers same day connections to much of the Korean Air network as well.”
