Rodney businesses shine in north Auckland awards

Rodney businesses are making an impact in the 2011 Westpac Auckland North Business Awards, with eight local companies making the finalist stage.

A total of 36 north Auckland businesses were named today as finalists across 12 categories, the highest in the award’s 14 year history.

Rodney based finalists are; Apollo Entertainment Limited, Cabins To Go, Explorer Boats NZ Limited, Modtec Industries Ltd, Orewa United Travel, Pakiri Beach Horse Rides, Project Floors (NZ) Ltd and Windowmakers Ltd.

Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development’s Manager Business Development North, Ngaio Merrick believes this year’s broad base of finalists showcases north Auckland’s business success.

“The Rodney district is a strong economic contributor to the region so it’s excellent to see so many local businesses named as finalists,” says Ms Merrick.

“The awards provide a snapshot of the larger business community so it is heartening to see so many success stories vying to be told. With so many Rodney finalists it reflects how well rounded the local business community is as a whole.”

Mayor Len Brown sees the awards as an important element for business success.

“North Auckland businesses are embracing success. For Auckland to perform on the world stage, we need more businesses to analyse their processes, innovate, and promote their successes as these Rodney business finalists have,” says Mayor Brown.

Ian Blair, General Manager Business Banking for Westpac, the awards major sponsor, is delighted with this year’s line up.

“Supporting the local business community is important to Westpac which is why we have sponsored these awards for the past 14 years, says Mr Blair.
