Groupy celebrates its 1st Birthday

Groupy, one of New Zealand’s very first group buying deal sites, celebrates its first birthday this month.

To celebrate Groupy is rewarding its loyal customers with the opportunity to send friends and family a FREE Hell snack pizza voucher and maybe get one for themselves too, via a viral Facebook campaign this Sunday. Terms and conditions apply.

Bought out by the Yellow Pages Group® late last year, Groupy is a classic Kiwi success story. The brain child of Scott Kitney and Andrew Hunt, Groupy started out in a garage in the Kapiti Coast and has grown to become one of the biggest daily deal sites in the country.

Following its purchase by Yellow®, Groupy topped New Zealand’s online pizza selling rate in January this year, selling 22 pizza vouchers per second, with an amazing $1 Hell pizza deal.

Now Groupy is opening its fourth region in the Hawke’s Bay, after numerous requests from local consumers, as part of a wider plan for its second year of operation. On Monday, to celebrate the launch, an unbeatable Speight’s Ale House deal of two beers for $2 will run for two days.

“We’re really excited to be expanding out to the regions. We know there’s a real demand for regionalised daily deals to give New Zealand consumers more choice, and Groupy is in a great position to provide that”, says Yellow®’s Digital Director Peter Crowe.

“We estimate that to date we’ve saved Groupy customers more than $6 million in unbeatable deals.

“Yellow® has over 300,000 business listings and more than one million total listings including residential. Many of these businesses will now have the opportunity to offer some unbeatable deals of their own and gain some instant results in the process”, says Mr Crowe.

Yellow® acquired Groupy late last year as part of its plan to deliver more digital innovations to advertisers and consumers.
