Aura Sustainability accepted carboNZero consultants
Aura Sustainability accepted onto qualified carbon
consultants list by the carboNZeroCertTM programme
For Immediate Release -21st July 2011
Food and beverage focused sustainability consultancy, Aura Sustainability, have been granted qualified status by the carboNZero programme to provide consultancy for their CEMARS® and carboNZero certification options .
Aura Sustainability have worked with the programme for the last 5 years and were integral in assisting Grove Mill and Yealands Estate Wines through the carboNZero certification process. They have also been integral in the establishment of product category rules for the wine industry. Roger Kerrison, Principal Consultant at Aura says:
“We are very pleased to be listed as qualified. The corporatisation of the carboNZero programme is going to lead to some exciting changes for CEMARS and carboNZero certification. The more collaborative direction they are taking has allowed us to finally be recognised as qualified consultants, which will provide much greater market development opportunities and value propositions to all the stakeholders in the process. We are looking forward to offering more clients a speedy and cost effective solution to assist clients to be audit-ready for CEMARS and carboNZero certification through the use of our barefootTM consultancy tools and models.”
Aura has developed barefootTM over the last 18 months having understood that the greatest challenge for companies wishing to undertake carbon accounting was actually getting the correct information out of their business systems. Kerrison says:
“Most of the information needed for certification is already in the system. The trick is to identify what this information is, where it is and how to present it in an audit ready format to the requirements of CEMARS and carboNZero technical requirements that include ISO 14064-1 for the measurement step for organisations, and PAS 2050 (or ISO/CD 14067-1) for the measurement step for products and services. Unless an organisation has an internal resource skilled in GHG accounting and reporting it can take up to 5 times longer for this to be achieved than if Aura project manage the process – this is where engaging Aura offers real tangible value.”
Graham Carter of the carboNZero programme said of the qualification listing:
“Aura Sustainability has a proven track record in identifying the most efficient ways for organisations to achieve certification and efficient carbon reductions within their organisation. We welcome them on-board as one of our qualified carbon consultants.”
“As a certified consultant Aura provides the ‘how to’ for organisations to achieve global certification, which leads to a renewed ability to make credible claims about environmental efforts. In the food and beverage sectors, supply chain management is driving the need to be able to substantiate such claims. Working with Aura Sustainability will certainly help speed up certification, so that it will be easier for businesses to meet their stakeholder concerns.”
