BrewNZ Week in Wellington's Leading Beer Bar

Hashigo Zake takes pleasure in announcing its lineup of events for BrewNZ week – the most important week in the calendar of New Zealand beer lovers.

On Monday August 1st, the bar will host the official release of the latest beer from 8 Wired Brewing – the Blenheim-based brewery blazing a trail both here and overseas. This time the beer is “The Sultan” – brewer Søren Erikson’s take on a Belgian Quadruple.

On Tuesday August 2nd the new Aro Street-based brewery calling themselves Garage Project will launch their first three beers.

On Wednesday August 3rd Renaissance Brewery will launch the 2011 release of their celebrated Imperial India Pale Ale known as Marlborough Pale Ale.

Finally on Thursday August 4th Hashigo Zake will host a celebration of the arrival of fresh beer direct from the Moylan’s Brewery in California.

Background of Hashigo Zake Hashigo Zake, New Zealand’s original “cult beer bar”, opened nearly two years ago and since then has showcased beers with more stylistic and geographic variety than any New Zealand outlet before. As well as being one of the best places in New Zealand to find local craft beer, the company has pioneered the importation of exceptional beer from the rest of the world by forging alliances with overseas breweries and using refrigeration shipping. Hashigo Zake is located at 25 Taranaki St, Te Aro, Wellington.

Background of Garage Project Garage Project is the new brewing venture begun by Pete and Ian Gillespie and Jos Ruffell. From a converted garage in Aro St Wellington and they are set to launch a range of beers that are small in volume but extravagant in character and variety.

Background of Moylan's Brewery Moylan’s Brewery was founded in 1995 in Navato, Northern California. They are one of the leading breweries in an area that is a stronghold of the American craft brewing revolution. Just this year they were named the Champion Brewery at the Australian International Beer Awards.
