Snapper showcases latest developments in integrated ticketing

Hot on the heels of its roll out to support Auckland Transport’s Integrated Ticketing Programme, Snapper is showcasing the latest in integrated ticketing capability at the annual Bus and Coach Association Conference, in Waitangi, 17-21 July.
New capability on show.
Snapper CEO, Miki Szikszai, says “The annual Bus and Coach Conference is the best opportunity for Snapper to meet with all the participants in New Zealand’s bus and coach industry in one place, understand their challenges, and present relevant solutions. Snapper is very pleased to once again showcase brand new capability at the conference, for the third year running.”
Partnerships are the key.
Mr Szikszai continues, “This year, Snapper is focused on the work we are doing with partners. Snapper’s strategy is to develop a platform where we integrate with a range of partners. That has resulted in the development of a local ecosystem where Snapper can deliver what customers need to make their businesses work - both technically and commercially.”
“Some of the highlights that have resulted from these key partnerships this year include:
• Smartcard development and personalisation with ABnote and Eyede.
• Payment terminals that accept Snapper with both SmartPay and EFTPOS NZ, including handheld terminals with full EFTPOS and contactless payments capability.
• Real Time Information System integration with the providers of systems in both Auckland and Wellington.
• Snapper’s Customer Service Application (CSA) which allows comprehensive and easy-to-use tier 1 support of cardholders, either face-to-face or remotely. CSA enables hot-listing of cards, and the provision of refunds, credits and balance transfers.
"This year Snapper is sharing its exhibit stand with HTS Group Ltd - Snapper’s partner for installation and maintenance of the Snapper system for bus operators. HTS Group Ltd is showcasing three new developments at the conference:
1. An all-in-one chassis for the Bus Driver Controller (BDC) and printer
2. Instant swap capability of the BDC and printer for easy maintenance and servicing
3. Integration of Snapper into access gates for rail, swimming pools, and other public sites and events.”
Focus for 2011 - more partners and more developers.
Mr Szikszai says, "Snapper’s clear focus for 2011 is to continue development of the Snapper ecosystem by providing developers with the tools they need to simply integrate into the Snapper platform.
“Snapper is using the conference to preview its software developer kit (SDK) which will allow developers to easily integrate Snapper for payment into a range of devices. This will also allow other applications to be added to the Snapper card. The developer kit contains a complete set of test tools and sample code making it even easier for developers to deliver relevant applications for the more than 260,000 Snapper cards that are active in the market today.
“Snapper is also previewing a new fund and travel pass collection device at the conference. The device is a wirelessly connected tablet and smartcard reader that allows cardholders to collect service credits, refunds, or pre-paid top-ups just by touching their card to the device. Because the device is compact and wireless it can be located almost anywhere to suit cardholder needs.”
