Jobs.co.nz and Justin Flitter team up to bring social media to the recruitment industry in New Zealand
Jobs.co.nz, the young online job board with it’s head office in Wellington has started offering social media training
courses for its clients, recruiters and any businesses that are interested in learning and utilising outlets such as
Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Up until last month, Jobs.co.nz (www.jobs.co.nz) offered it’s clients information on recruitment through social media sites and gave examples on how to target a new
and passive audience, however, social media can be complex and providing the tools doesn’t necessarily mean the
knowledge on how to connect and engage with your audience comes easily.
“The team at Jobs.co.nz & Justin Flitter are so excited to be providing full social media workshops for companies who want to take advantage of
outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.” Says Kirsti Grant, Client Solutions Manager at Jobs.co.nz.
“ It was clear that our clients really wanted to get involved in using social media for recruitment but they needed some
help with developing strategies and learning how to implement and manage them. We also really like the idea of being
able to up skill their staff and start building some real talent within the social media space in NZ. When looking at
who in New Zealand might be able to help us with this new product the obvious choice was Justin, his knowledge of social
media and enthusiasm is exactly what we’re after”
Justin Flitter, (justinflitter.co.nz) top social media strategist in New Zealand with over 35k followers on his Twitter page @justinflitter, and 1300 connections on LinkedIn - noticed Jobs.co.nz was different from stand alone job boards due to their active
engagement and interest with social media, and took on the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience.
“People are talking about your business every day. You can choose to ignore those conversations or use them to promote
your business.” Says Justin.
Iain MacGibbon is the Managing Director of FarrowJamieson and was one of the first recruitment agencies to complete a full day course that involved developing a social media
plan and engagement strategy.
"We have been an early adopter of some aspects of social media but the day with Justin and Kirsti from Jobs.co.nz highlighted new opportunities that we hadn’t seen and brought together our individual efforts in to a coordinated
strategy. We really enjoyed the interaction and the ability to “see” the results of our actions immediately." Says Iain.
