Coopers Creek SV "The Limeworks" Chardonnay rated top by Australia's most influential wine magazine.
Coopers Creek SV "The Limeworks" Chardonnay has done it again - this time the sole Five Star award for Hawkes Bay Chardonnay in prestigious Winestate magazine's latest tasting.
Australasia's most influential wine magazine Winestate has just released its ratings for the annual tasting of Hawkes Bay wines, awarding Limeworks Chardonnay 2010 the only Five Star score in its class. In a field with the best Chardonnays from the region, The Limeworks shone through, adding to its impressive Gold Medal pedigree in recent vintages.
The SV Limeworks Chardonnay comes from fruit harvested from Coopers Creek's renowned 'Middle Road' vineyard near Havelock North, where the iconic Swamp Reserve Chardonnay also originates. The property has been owned by the winery since the late 1980s and has produced beautiful fruit year after year. The vineyard is sited on Taupo pumice sand over peat with limestone outcrops and is literally strewn with limestone. It also sits next to a limestone quarry - hence the name "Limeworks" for this wine.
The Limeworks Chardonnay is part of the sought-after Select Vineyards range (aka "SV"), crafted by Coopers Creek winemaker Simon Nunns especially for restaurants and fine wine stockists. The SV range offers not only well known varietals such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Bordeaux reds, but also stylish new aromatics such as Arneis, Grüner Veltliner, Albariño and Viognier.
