BNZ Mobile Banking Hits the Spot
BNZ Mobile Banking Hits the Spot
Bank of New Zealand’s new mobile banking website and iPhone app have been welcomed with open arms by smart phone toting customers across the country.
Launched via BNZ Twitter, the dual release is a win for the increasing number of Kiwis wanting to get their banking done while on the go. IPhone users are now able to take advantage of a purpose built application while users of other smart phones can enjoy a functionally identical internet banking site optimised for mobile.
Both the application and the mobile site have received a keen welcome from customers with a flurry of activity on Twitter and the app already seeing thousands of downloads on the local iTunes App Store. It quickly raced to the number one spot for financial apps and BNZ customers have, in no time flat, made over $1million worth of transactions using mobile banking.
BNZ chief operating officer Stephen Mockett says he’s rapt with the positive response, doubly so given the app and mobile site were both developed in house.
“Since we launched on Thursday the feedback has been flowing in from customers over Twitter and Facebook. What’s really heartening is that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with customers loving both the design and the convenience mobile banking provides. It backs our investment in this area and is a real credit to the quality of work our Wellington-based BNZ development team has produced” says Mockett.
In order to bring mobile banking to life, BNZ assembled a software development team specialising in mobile solutions at its Wellington office. The team are supported by various disciplines from across the bank and are part of the wider online services team responsible for BNZ online offerings and have developed the BNZ mobile banking solution from the ground up.
