Kaitaki To Sail This Weekend
Kaitaki To Sail This Weekend
Interislander Cook
Strait ferry Kaitaki will now be able to sail its morning
passenger services on Saturday and Sunday.
Interislander general manager Thomas Davis announced yesterday that services would be disrupted this week because of issues caused by staff illness and weather. The services affected are this week’s morning sailings of Kaitaki from Wellington at 8.25am and the ship’s early afternoon sailing from Picton at 1.45pm, with passengers transferred to the 2.40pm from Wellington and 6.40pm from Picton by Arahura because of a number of unrelated illnesses amongst several of the ship’s masters.
“We appreciate that this disruption is bad for our passengers, and our freight customers. We apologise for the delays, and we are working as hard as possible to ensure that those delays are as minimal as possible.”
However, today Mr Davis said an Interislander captain is now available to sail Kaitaki’s morning sailings on Saturday and Sunday, and the 8.25am sailing from Wellington and the 1.45pm sailing from Picton would be scheduled for this weekend.
Strong southerly swells are also affecting sailing times, causing delays.
