Global Exide Technologies CEO Visits Petone Smelter

Jim Bolch, President and Chief Executive Officer for Exide Technologies, is in New Zealand for his first visit to the Exide smelter in Petone.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to visit our New Zealand smelter and talk with our employees and those in the community,” said Bolch. “In my nearly one year with Exide, I have had the pleasure of visiting hundreds of customers, suppliers, employees, government officials, shareholders, investors and potential investors around the world and look forward to adding Lower Hutt, New Zealand, to this list.”

The Exide Petone smelter is the only spent lead-acid battery recycling smelter in New Zealand .

“We have invested in this facility to ensure it meets all of the applicable environmental standards,” Bolch said. “And we continue to focus on being good corporate citizens for our employees as well as the community in which we operate.”

During the visit, Mr. Bolch hosted Ray Wallace, Mayor of Hutt City, for a tour of the smelter. “I would like to thank Mayor Wallace for his support of the efforts we have taken in ensuring the smelter remains environmentally compliant and his support of the technologies we are using to provide this valuable recycling capability to the citizens of Lower Hutt and all of New Zealand ,” Bolch said.
